Surely the council planners and decision makers can not ignore the comprehensive protestations of OMC Investments, which owns Greyfriars Hotel, Lewis Gardens and East Hill House, regarding Alumno plans for the area next to Firstsite and the Curzon cinema.

This company has invested so much and enhanced the appearance of the area around East Hill and Firstsite considerably.

It has given valid and considered reasons for the unsuitability of Alumno's plans.

It will obviously be affected by an inappropriate building.

They are not "loony lefties" or "wishful arties". This company has put its faith in Colchester and its input regarding the plans for the Cultural Quarter is extremely valid and important.

I have a hunch though that the decision makers have dug a hole for themselves on this issue and Colchester will once again be suffering from unambitious and banal planning.
