TWO people have been fined after admitting flytipping on their own doorsteps.
Jade Sharp, 21, of Travers Way, Basildon, appeared as Basildon Magistrate's Court on Monday where she admitted dumping polyurethane and waxed brown paper packaging on a round concrete flower bed on her road in August last year.
She was fined £320 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85 for breaching Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Leanne Wholas, 34, of Wimbish End, Basildon, appeared at court on the same day where she admitted dumping a large plastic sack full of clothing, household waste, and an internal white blind in May last year.
She was fined £320 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85 for breaching Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Kevin Blake, Basildon Council’s Chairman of the Leisure, Culture and Environment Committee, said: “These cases demonstrate success for the council and highlight that we will prosecute wherever possible when evidence exists when people fail to get rid of their waste responsibly.
"We want to show that we support our residents in making our Borough clean and tidy for the majority, not spoilt by a minority.
“We encourage all householders to do the right thing with their household waste.”
Householders can ensure their bulky waste is collected and disposed of properly by booking a special collection.
