RESIDENTS can hear more about a project to make urgent repairs to a historic Grade I listed church in Brightlingsea this weekend.

A project is underway to repair the tower at the 13th Century All Saints’ Church and to install facilities to encourage visitors.

There will be a chance to learn more at an open morning at Brightlingsea Parish Hall on Saturday, February 23, between 10am and 1pm.

A spokesman said: “Everyone is invited to come and see the plans and hear how a much-needed indoor toilet with small kitchenette will be built, along with urgent repairs to the tower.”

“Once complete, this will provide many more opportunities for all sorts of activities and events at the old church, and allow the very special maritime heritage of the ‘sailors’ church’ to be preserved.”
