MORE than 500 runners joined in with St Luke’s ten mile run to raise cash for the hospice.

More runners than ever before took to the Ford Test Track in Dunton.

They tackled the course, set within the grounds of Ford Dunton Technical Centre.

It consists of two laps, each at 4.5 miles, plus a one mile finish loop involving the high speed, multi surface test tracks and both flat and steady inclines.

The Test Track 10 event, organised by St Luke’s Hospice in partnership with Ford, celebrated its ninth year.

Funds from the race provides support for the Basildon-based hospice, which helps care for and support patients with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families and carers.

Kerry Chambers, fundraiser at the hospice, said: “It was one of our best yet. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a great success, from Dave Gwilliams at Ford who has spent the last eight months working his free time to the amazing staff and volunteers who attended to marshal and runners who took part.”
