THE magic of Mary Poppins brought a room of young fans to their feet for dance routines and themed play as part of a half-term of fun.

The primary school dramatists, one as young as four, danced, sang and performed scenes from the Disney classic and 2018 remake, starring Emily Blunt.

At Bubbles Entertainment, founded by Emma Jackson, of Great Braxted, only the most popular films make it to her parties and performing arts workshops for young people.

She said: "I had them making kites which some chose to use in their dance routines and acting out scenes from the film.

"We learnt how to sing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, that was really fun, the song A Cover is not a Book, from the new Mary Poppins, and it all ended with a performance for the parents at the end of the workshop which was sweet.

"Our themes are always what's popular at the time. Although I've already been booked to run the Mary Poppins event at another venue, the Greatest Showman has so far been the biggest sell-out for me.

"I remember having over 40 children for that party - everyone went crazy for it."

Emma's own daughters, aged eight and 14, joined in on the action, but this is something mum has been doing since before they were born.

Bubbles Entertainment was founded 18 years ago which makes Emma a bit like Peter Pan, she joked, except she is a woman "not prepared to grow up yet".

She said: "I began as a children's entertainer at Haven, which is where the bubbles part of the name came from, and where the business stemmed from.

"As well as hosting children's parties, I'm also a performing arts teacher.

"Easter will be the next set of events with craft making, and throughout the summer I'll do weekly workshops."
