A GROUP of volunteers who support children with additional needs are celebrating after securing extra funding.

Happy Hill Essex, which is based in Black Notley, has been chosen as a recipient of housing builder Persimmon Home’s grant scheme.

The group, which will receive £1,000, will put the money towards taking 15 children on a day trip to Paradise Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire.

Happy Hill founder Heather Hill said: “As a mother of two children with additional needs, I understand how important it is to provide inclusive play and recreation opportunities for these children.

“Thanks to Persimmon’s generous donation, we will be able to fund this fantastic trip, which is sure to be popular with the children.

“Our activities are catered to suit the child’s individual needs and a one-to-one playworker is assigned all children who require one, whether it be for medical or behavioural needs.”

Phil Standen, managing director of Persimmon Homes Essex, added: “It is a pleasure to be able to support the cause with this donation and we hope the trip is enjoyed by all.”
