It says something about our councillors that they have elected to spend £100,000 of our money on a third-rate sculpture rather than on sorting out the abysmally designed traffic lights that cause so much unnecessary congestion and pollution on Colchester’s Northern Approaches - something that would benefit visitors, residents and our beleaguered planet.
The good news, however, is that a local DIY store has white paint on special offer should anyone wish to paint the elephant an appropriate colour.
