An outbuilding was badly damaged in a fire.

Fire crews from both Maldon and South Woodham Ferrers attended the incident where the inside of the building had gone up in flames.

An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman, said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in an outbuilding in Latchingdon Road, Cold Norton at 4.16pm on Saturday 16 March.

“The building, which measured approximately 25 metres by 35 metres, was heavily smoke logged when firefighters arrived.

"Crews worked hard to extinguish the fire by 5.07pm. The cause has been recorded as undetermined.”

Maldon fire station posted on its Facebook page: "Unfortunately many things were damaged during the incident, with the fire, spreading over a large area."

Among those unfortunate items were a large trailer, car parts and a number of other items.

The firefighters had to wear breathing apparatus as they used large hose reels to extinguish the blaze.

No one was reported injured during the incident.
