Surprise, surprise! Shock, horror! Council executives earn more than the Prime Minister!
The word “earn” should not be used, “take” is more appropriate. I’d love to follow the likes of Lyn Carpenter to see how they “earn” £3,000 a week of council tax payers money. Long hours, tough decisions? You must be joking! In industry an “executive” had responsibility, a bad decision would raise costs and prices, reduce custom and bankrupt the company! Their “income” is controlled by the customer. With our “executives” any costly mistake, such as putting traffic lights on the A1306/ Sainsbury roundabout, simply raises council tax, we have no choice!
So who decides “executive” wages? We “customers” have no say.
I’ve seen changes over the years. At one time the average council tax or “rates” as they were known, came to around an average one hours wages and services were far better, now it’s nearer three hours wages, hardly surprising when we have over-paid people deciding their own wages!
Add to that their decisions to waste millions of our money changing council offices etc. and it all adds up.
It’s time this situation was investigated. In just about everything else, I decide what I want and what I pay for it! Even our MPs and councillors can be voted out if I’m not satisfied!
