THE Red Hot Chilli Pipers, whose own unique brand of “Bagrock” has gained them fans all over the world since their formation in 2002, bring their high-octane live show to the Gala in Durham on Thursday, May 23.

The band are bona fide stars in their homeland of Scotland, and achieved a new level of pop fame this year, when BRIT winner and Number 1 album star Tom Walker invited them to join him busking in Glasgow on a new version of his global hit Leave A Light On.

Further performances with Tom at Murrayfield and for the BBC followed, with the bagpipes version being so well received that it was re-recorded and rush-released as a single in aid of the Nordoff Robbins music therapy charity. The single rapidly scaled the UK iTunes chart, hitting Number 4 the day after its release.

The Chilli Pipers joined Tom again at his Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom show last month, to a rapturous reception.

The song features in the bands own live show, alongside their unique take on tracks such as Insomnia, Gimme All Your Lovin, Thunderstruck, Everybody Dance Now, Amazing Grace, Fix You, Chasing Cars, Wake Me Up, Don’t Stop Believin’ and We Will Rock You, as well as more traditional pipe songs, always in their own inimitable style.

The Chilli Pipers have performed to over a million people all over the world, and were awarded a Gold Disc for their debut album Bagrock To The Masses and a triple platinum award for the album and DVD Blast Live.

Their new album Fresh Air is currently in production and due for release in June. The band recently recorded with more than 250 young pipers for a track on the album at Tynecastle stadium in Edinburgh.
