FIREFIGHTERS rescued a man from the River Foss in York in the early hours of today.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service crews from York and Acomb were called to the Foss near Carmelite Street at about 3.40am on Thursday.
A spokesman said: "It was believed that he fell in and was initially held on to by a friend, and then by a police officer."
The spokesman said the man was checked over by paramedics at the scene and was transported to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
