PETER Pan fans will most likely need 'faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust' to get their hands on a rare 50p coin.

Thousands of people have been queuing online today, Tuesday, to get their hands on the rare collection.

The set has been developed in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity to celebrate 90 years since Peter Pan author, J.M. Barrie, gifted all his rights in Peter Pan to them.

The Westminster Collection said it had been an 'honour' working with the charity to create the world's first Peter Pan 50ps and for every coin sold a donation will go directly to GOSH Charity to help the hospital and the seriously ill children from across the UK who are cared for there.

A spokesman added: "Peter Pan remains one of the most cherished and loved children’s stories of all time and as such demand for these new 50p coins is expected to be extremely high."

The collection, including designs featuring Captain Hook and Tinkerbell, won't be released by the Royal Mint and therefore won't be entering circulation.

Each coin features an engraving of David Wyatt’s illustration from the Oxford University Press edition of Peter Pan alongside a well-known and much loved quote from the book.

Demand was so high for the coins, many people were told they were 2,500th in the online queue.

The coins start at £6.25 for a 50p coin or £37.50 for one of the sets.
