SANDBANKS Ferry suspended its service yesterday after a mechanical problem.
Services were stopped from 6pm, and the ferry continues to be out-of-service this morning.
Operators hope to have the ferry running by midday.
Engineers carried out scheduled work to the main drive system overnight on Monday, and service resumed on Tuesday morning.
The cause of the current mechanical problem has not been confirmed.
Speaking earlier this year, after months of suspended services dating back to December, ferry company director Mike Keen said: "We are exploring all the options to finance the cost of a new ferry.
It is too early to say exactly when the ferry will be replaced, we are working on that with our naval architects, but we are committed to finding a sustainable replacement solution that makes business sense."
