AN appeal has been made to find a home for a cat with diabetes.

The RSPCA has launched a special appeal for eight-year-old Fonzy, a friendly tomcat, who is looking for a permanent home or foster carer to look after him.

He came into the care of RSPCA Essex South branch seven months ago after he was brought in as a stray and was rehomed a couple of months later but was returned after five months in his new home.

Sadly, his owners could no longer cope when Fonzy became poorly and tests revealed that he has diabetes.

Bonnie Boddie, trustee and animal coordinator at the branch, said: “Fonzy will need a special home as he requires his bloods measuring regularly whilst we get his insulin levels correct and feeding at appropriate times for a diabetic cat. Our vets can advise and support with this and they report that Fonzy is so sweet and does not make a fuss about his blood checks or insulin injections.”
