IMPROVEMENTS are due to to be made to the facilities at Lymington Quay.

A toilet block would be modernised as part of the plans, which have been produced by New Forest District Council, Lymington and Pennington Town Council and the Lymington Harbour Commission.

The harbour commission wants to upgrade the shower and washroom facilities in the toilet block, which are provided for visiting yachtsmen.

Local residents, businesses, visitors, and river users are being asked for their views on the planned improvements.

Councillor Alison Hoare, district council portfolio holder for environment, said: “The NFDC toilet block is due for modernisation so we are taking the opportunity to work together with the town council and the Harbour Commission to make the most of the opportunity to look at the whole quay and consider if we could improve it.

“As part of developing our plans, we are asking interested local residents, businesses, river users and visitors to complete a short survey on what they value and what they think could be improved."

Lymington Quay contains two car parks, a slipway, flood wall and public toilet block.

The district council is keen to ensure that any improvements maintain the flood defences of the town.

The town council is considering whether the car parking areas could be transformed to provide an area of open space suitable for events and markets.

More information and a short survey is available at www.newforest.gov.uk/LymQuay and paper versions are available from Lymington Town Hall, NFDC information offices and various shops and businesses at the Quay.

Responses can be submitted until September 23 by completing the survey online or by returning paper survey forms to Lymington Town Hall or the Appletree Court offices.
