THE flu immunisation programme for children in Glasgow is getting underway.

Over the next week primary pupils will be sent home with immunisation consent packs for parents and carers to complete and return.

The team will visit nine primary schools each day – 343 in total - from October 7 as they bid to immunise 90,000 primary school pupils against flu.

Parents and carers are being asked to complete the forms and return them to the school within seven days.

Evidence has shown that giving primary school age children the vaccine led to a significant drop in the number of adults attending GPs and hospitals with flu like illness.
