ORGANISERS of the second artists’ market to hit Strand Wharf are promising it to be bigger and better than the opening last year.

On August 26, more than 20 artists will be painting live, selling their work and adding to the livelihood of the Old Town as thousands pour in for some sun, sea and talent.

After live painting demonstrations were such a hit at the opening in May last year, this year visitors will also be able to watch sculpture and ceramics being created on the day.

Ceramic artist Madelaine Hanman Murphy will be creating at her pottery wheel throughout the day and Lester Alan Mills is involved for the first time, producing figurative work in wire and clay.

Landscape painters will be dotted around, spray can artist Scott Irving will produce large scale pieces, and visitors will be able to see beautiful local photography.

The event will take place from 11am until 4pm.
