THOUSANDS of walkers turned Glasgow even sunnier as they dressed in yellow to support an annual cancer charity event.

As temperatures soared across the UK, 2000 walkers took part in the Beatson Cancer Charity’s sixth Off The Beatson Track event, which raises cash for support services, research and new facilities.

The 10k walk started and finished at the Riverside Museum and took in some of the West End’s famous sights along the route.

This weekend's late summer sunshine, as a result of warm air being dragged up over the UK from France, comes at the end of what has been a wet month so far.

Temperatures reached 26.2C (79.16F) in Prestwick this afternoon and are expected to rise again today across west Scotland before turning cloudy for the rest of the week, with a chance of rain.
