A Burnham on Crouch crew aided a Clacton team in helping a two-man rowing boat to safety last Sunday.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) from Maldon aided their Clacton-on-Sea colleagues in responding to an urgency signal.

Two male rowers had attempted to return to Burnham on Crouch in the evening when they had faced a strong tides and wind.

The men tired and sent out the Pan Pan at around 6 pm and the Maldon team were called to help at 7.12 pm.

Clacton volunteers acted quickly and towed them into the Burnham vicinity where the Maldon crew took over.

The rowing boat and its crew were safely returned home at approximately 10.30 PM where they were offered a hot shower and a cup of tea.

Once recovered, the casualties expressed their thanks and appreciation to the volunteers of Clacton on Sea and Burnham on Crouch who demonstrated great teamwork.
