THERE will be limited access to a car park overnight while roadworks take place.

Access to St Mary’s Car Park in Colchester will be affected by the Balkerne Hill road closure which is scheduled to take place between 7pm and 5am on September 12 and 13.

During these times, there will be no access to the car park entrance, however the exit will remain open as usual.

Alternative parking is available at any of Colchester Council’s other town centre car parks, which are all open 24 hours a day, except St John’s Car Park which is open 5am and 10.30pm.

Mike Lilley, Colchester councillor responsible for communities, said: "We know St Mary’s Car Park is popular for evening parking.

“We would therefore encourage motorists to either arrive at the car park before 7pm on those dates or use one of our other town centre car parks."

The Balkerne Hill road closure is taking place to allow Essex County Council to upgrade the traffic signals and pedestrian crossings.
