RESIDENTS will be given the opportunity to have their say on development in their village.
A referendum will be held on Thursday, September 19, where residents will be asked whether Colchester Council should officially adopt the West Bergholt Neighbourhood Plan.
West Bergholt Neighbourhood Plan has been developed by the parish council as well as volunteers with the aim of shaping the ongoing development of the village.
If residents vote yes in the referendum it will be officially adopted as part of Colchester Council's planning policy and will be used when future planning decisions are made.
Ward councillor Lewis Barber (Con, Lexden and Braiswick) said: "I welcome the opportunity for West Bergholt to have greater control of their future.
"I want to thank the parish council and volunteers for the hard work they put in to preparing the Neighbourhood Plan.
"I’d encourage all residents to have their say on September 19.”
Residents will receive details of how and where to vote in the coming weeks.
