UNEMPLOYMENT across Flintshire has seen a decline this month.

According to statistics from the Department for Work and Pensions, there has been a 24 per cent drop in the unemployment rate in Flintshire, against the national figure of 32 per cent for Wales.

The Leader previously reported that David Hanson MP was concerned over the rise of unemployment in his constituency in particular.

Across Wales, the number of people who are employed is at 1.49 million – up 150,000 since 2010.

Jobcentres in Flintshire are currently involved in supporting claimants with a variety of events.

A parent information morning will be held in the Connah’s Quay Civic Centre on October 8 between 10am and 12pm.

During this, advice on training courses will be available as well as childcare support. benefits information, universal credit and volunteering and employment support.

A spokesman for the event said: “All parents with young children are welcome to come and chat to our team for real and valuable information.”
