THE council is asking for residents' views on how to improve the town.

Colchester Council's Policy and Public Initiatives Panel is inviting residents to a public session at Colchester Town Hall on September 25.

The meeting will start at 6pm and residents can put forward their ideas.

The panel, which was set up in May last year, operates as a committee of Cabinet. One of its main roles is to listen to ideas from the public about improving the town.

Residents were invited to take part in an online survey on what issues the panel should investigate as part of its work in the coming year.

Ideas submitted at the Town Hall listening session will be combined with the results of the online survey to determine which initiatives should be taken forward, following Cabinet approval later this year.

Mark Cory, leader of Colchester Council, said: “The Policy and Public Initiatives Panel is an excellent channel for residents, councillors and other organisations to come together to help deliver on our ambition to make this great borough an even better place.

“I would encourage anyone who has ideas about how we can improve Colchester to come along to the Town Hall meeting, where you can give your views direct to the panel or in writing.”
