Witham’s famous puppet festival celebrates its 20th anniversary tomorrow.

The day will centre around a Wonderland theme and include a Queen of Hearts Teacup Hunt around the town.

There is a Mad Hatter Tea Party in the United Reformed Church, with proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Society.

There will also be a fancy-dress competition, creative workshops and performances by the Cat’s Choir, Ballonatics and the Red Queen, who will perform magic tricks.

Events co-ordinator Lauren Brimson said: “We would like the thank the Arts Council for granting us extra funding this year, allowing us to make out 20th annual puppet festival an extra special extravaganza.

“We are proud to provide this fantastic free event for the community and feel confident that out big anniversary will have something for everyone to enjoy.

“Special thanks goes to our other sponsors and to the United Reformed Church for joining us as a new venue this year.”

The festival is on from 10am to 4pm.
