NORTHLEACH has opened its first community owned and run café.

Northleach Church and Town Enterprise opened The Black Cat Café in August 2017.

Rob Elliott, who works for the enterprise, said: “The company is not for personal profit.”

“All the money it makes goes back into the enterprise, to further develop the community, via services such as the café, running projects or providing small grants to projects run by members of the community.

“I want to see the good ideas of people in the community and ideas for the community being realised.

“Whilst, encouraging people that are not so involved in decision making or not accessing the town's resources much more involved.

“I want to help where I can with the development of links across the community - between people, projects, groups and organisations.

The cafe offers homemade cakes, a meeting space for groups, activities and their book bring and share scheme's profits go to local groups and charities.

They welcome walking and cycling groups, but please call them in advance if it is a large group.

It is also dog friendly and displays art from local artists.

It will be open six days a week, from 9am-4pm.

Although new to this role, Rob has held community based roles across the country, such as Cirencester, Yate, Oxford and London.

Rob is more than happy for people to contact him, whether it's face to face or over the phone/email.

So please get in touch whether it is about his job, helping with the café, the enterprise, or ideas for community projects and improvements.
