VOTERS will get the chance to quiz the Parliamentary candidates standing to be the next Braintree MP at a special debate.

St Michael’s Church in Braintree is hosting a hustings event tonight to allow the public to hear from the people standing in December’s General Election.

All six candidates are set to appear at the event and will answer questions from the audience.

The Rev Nigel Adams will take charge of the hustings and will allow the candidates to debate with one another.

The event gets under way at 7.30pm and all are welcome to attend.

The candidates standing in Braintree are Jo Beavis (Ind), James Cleverly (Con), Alan Dorkins (Ind), Joshua Garfield (Lab), Dom Graham (Lib Dem) and David Mansell (Ind).

Voters in Witham will also get the chance to quiz the Parliamentary candidates standing in their constituency.

A hustings event is set to be held at Marks Tey Parish Hall tomorrow, starting at 7.30pm.

All four candidates are invited and Labour’s Martin Edobor has confirmed he will be attending.

Members of the audience will be able to ask questions of each candidate during a short debate.

A second hustings will be held at St Nicholas’ Church in Witham on Monday.

It will follow a similar format, with candidates making opening and closing speeches, as well as answering questions from the public.

The event gets under way at 7.30pm. The other candidates standing to be the next Witham MP are James Abbott (Green), Sam North (Lib Dem) and Priti Patel (Con).
