A KITCHEN fire at a Chinese takeaway has left residents with smoke damage.
The fire, at the Golden House, on Southend Road, Rochford, caused billowing smoke to damage the flat above the takeaway business.
The Anne Boleyn pub also stated that smoke had travelled inside but nobody was required to evacuate.
A spokesman from the Essex fire service, said: "Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire in a takeaway restaurant in Southend Road, Rochford last night.
"On arrival, crews reported that the extraction system in the kitchen was on fire and had spread through the building into neighbouring rooms.
"Firefighters extinguished the fire by 5:56pm. The flat above the restaurant suffered some smoke damage.
