A COUNCIL community safety officer leapt into action and performed emergency first aid on a child who was unconscious and choking.
The officer, part of a team working with police to keep our town centre safe, has been praised for his "amazing work".
According to a Tweet from Southend Community Safety Partnership, the officer cleared the child's airway and ultimately saved their life.
The ambulance service was called out to check the child over.
No details have yet been released about the officer or the child.
