PRESTATYN has been named a s focus for a pub giant's £200 million investment.
JD Wetherspoon has revealed its four year plans which will be channelled into developments in small- and medium-sized towns alongside larger towns and cities.
In September, The Journal reported of the chain entering the process to buy the 117 year old, former Council Chamber on Nant Road. In recent years, there has been speculation that the chain would take over the Civic hall in Conwy, however the town is not mentioned alongside Prestatyn in the plans.
A spokesperson for JD Wetherspoon said: "The company anticipates that the investment will result in approximately 10,000 new jobs.
These are set to include new pubs in Bourne, Diss, Ely, Felixstowe, Hamilton, Newport Pagnell, Prestatyn and Waterford."
Wetherspoon’s founder and chairman, Tim Martin, said: “We are looking forward to opening many more new pubs, as well as investing in existing pubs, over the next four years.
“We are especially pleased that a large proportion of the investment will be in smaller towns and cities which have, in recent years, seen a decline in investment.
“The fact that we will be creating approximately 10,000 jobs is great news too.”
JD Wetherspoon has been approached for further comment.
