A NATURE reserve is hosting its first ever eco fair this month to encourage visitors to think more sustainably.

The fair, this Saturday at RSPB Saltholme, will feature stalls selling environmentally-friendly products from vegan preserves and cider to household products and cosmetics.

It rounds off 'Plastic Action Month' which encouraged people to think more about the wasteful products they use.

Laura Pringle, visitor experience intern, said: “Plastic Action Month has been extremely well received by our visitors so far.

"A particular highlight for me has been the litter pick we held at South Gare last weekend, where 70 amazing people helped us remove around 600kg of waste from the beach.

"Our pledgehog - a hedgehog themed pledge board - has been another wild success; with over 60 eco-friendly pledges made in the last couple of weeks from children and families of all ages.”
