Work is about to start on a new £150,000 play scheme at River Road Play Park.

The renovation, which is being financed by Brentwood Borough Council as part of it's play area strategy, will see a new range of play equipment, slides, climbing frames, swings and a ground level trampoline installed.

Work will begin in early February and River Road Play Park will be closed while the new equipment is installed.

It's expected the park will be ready to open to the public just before the Easter holiday period.

This is the latest in a series of renovations to borough play areas which began last year with the £290,000 renovation of Warley Playing Fields where an outdoor gym was installed.

In August, Courage Playing Fields underwent a £90,000 makeover with a new tower unit, climbing frame and sensory equipment installed.

Chair of Community and Health Committee, Councillor Cliff Poppy, said: “We are renovating and refurbishing a number of play areas which are frankly past their best. "River Road is a lovely site just opposite the allotments but the equipment is very tired so this new scheme will rejuvenate the whole park and encourage more families and children to use it. The area will be suitably landscaped and just in time for the Spring so residents can make the most of it.”
