ECHOSPORT talks to Coventry City fan Simon Todd ahead of tomorrow’s game at Roots Hall.

Coventry are currently third in the table so what have you made of the season so far?

“The season so far has gone better than I expected.

“After finishing eighth in our first season back in League One I expected us to be pushing for a play-off place.

“However with us sitting third after 29 games and with one game in hand over first and three over second it really looks like we could get automatic promotion.”

What do you feel have been the main reasons for such a good season?

“The main reasons for our success would probably have to be Mark Robins and his backroom staff, they have got this team playing football that Guardiola would be impressed with.”

All of this has been achieved despite Coventry having to play home games at Birmingham City. How has that been?

“It’s been quite tough not having a home because a lot of the fans are still divided on whether to go or not and so a lot of people are missing out on seeing this great team.

“But the one good thing about it is we actually have a pitch we can play the manager’s style of football on.”

How confident are you of getting promoted?

“This team is playing some of the best football I have ever seen before and with a goalkeeper and backline that are so difficult to get past I think we have an excellent shot of getting promoted.”

Who would you say is the dangerman?

“The dangerman is Callum O’ Hare, who is currently on loan from Villa.

“He is like the Duracell bunny as he never stops running. He picked up a nasty looking head injury against Bolton but once bandaged carried on playing and even played against Portsmouth on Tuesday.”

What’s the team news?

“Wesley Jobello is a long term absentee and Jodi Jones has so far been unavailable due to lack of fitness after a long time out with injury but other than that Robins has a fully fit squad to pick from and may decide to make a couple of changes as we have played a lot of games recently.”
