DARREN Manning insists Hullbridge Sports are not becoming bogged down after suffering three defeats on the spin.

Sports welcome Histon to the Ryan’s Heating Stadium tomorrow having lost to Heybridge Swifts, Maldon & Tiptree and Coggeshall Town in recent weeks.

Manning is keen to remain upbeat despite falling to within six points of the Isthmian North drop zone.

“We’ve suffered three defeats in a row but that’s three games against top opposition in Heybridge, Maldon and Coggeshall,” said boss Manning, whose side are enjoying their first ever season in the fourth tier of non-league football.

“All three of those sides are fighting at the top end of the division.

“That’s where we want to be, so we have learnt a lot from those games which will stand us in good stead going forward.

“It’s always important to pick up points.

“It doesn’t matter about the previous results, you always want three points come matchday and tomorrow will be no different.”

Hullbridge saw their scheduled clash with Cambridge City called off in midweek.

And the postponement, ahead of this weekend’s clash with Histon, frustrated Manning.

“Postponements are extremely tough to take,” added Manning.

“You work hard in training all week on a game plan and then you can’t go and execute it.

“Histon are a good side and a good club.

“They have been consistently just outside of the play-offs for the majority of the season and that is not a shock to us.

“They beat us comfortably at their place and we want to rectify that.”
