A man has been rushed to hospital after a car smashed into a central reservation of a major road.
The 25-year-old man was taken to Broomfield Hospital after the crash on the A130 between Basildon and Chelmsford at about 5pm last night.
Pictures from the scene show a section of the road was closed, and emergency services on the scene dealing with the incident.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called to the A130 at Runwell at around 5.10pm yesterday following reports of a crash.
"Two ambulances attended, and crews treated a male patient at the scene before transporting him to Broomfield Hospital for further assessment and care.”
An Essex Police spokesman said: “We were called shortly before 5.10pm on Tuesday 17 March with reports a Ford Focus had collided with a crash barrier on the Southend-bound track of the A130 Chelmsford near Howe Green.
“The driver, a 25-year-old man, was taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing.
“The road was reopened by 7.15pm.”
