PARK and Ride services in Colchester are set to resume following the lifting of lockdown restrictions, although with a reduced timetable.

From Monday buses will run from the Cuckoo Way site, at Junction 28 of the A12, between 7am and 7pm Monday to Saturday.

Kevin Bentley, Essex County Council's infrastructure boss, said: "We have worked hard to ensure that the temporary closure of our Park and Ride services due to Covid-19 restrictions were kept to a minimum, and the Sandon and Colchester sites now look forward to welcoming passengers back.

"The services are valued, high quality and sustainable public transport which help to reduce congestion and contribute to a cleaner environment in line with our Green Infrastructure Strategy.”

Social distancing measures mean there may be longer waits to board buses via the new queuing system and reduced capacity on board.

A new Park and Pedal service for those planning to cycle on from the site is also being launched.

A two month introductory offer of free parking for Park and Pedal customers is being put in place.

The usual cost will be £3 a day for parking or £20 per month, which also includes a secure locker on site.

Passengers are advised to check the website before travelling for updates on the service.
