CARS will be banned from Old Leigh from tomorrow.
Leigh Town Council has announced that it would be too dangerous to keep traffic in the town with more people expected to be visiting buisnesses as lockdown restrictions are eased this weekend.
The council said that traffic on High Street would be banned from the junction with Belton Bridge between the hours of 10am and midnight.
All pedestrian access will be banned to the footpath at the sea wall at any point.
It comes a week after dispersal orders were issued to stop crowds gathering in the street.
These restrictions will be in place for 21 days, and an alternate route for traffic will be marked on site and resident’s access will be maintained where possible.
Any vehicles that are caught breaching these restrictions will be slapped with fines.
