THE deaths of six patients who tested positive for the coronavirus have been recorded at Southend Hospital.

The deaths were confirmed through figures released by NHS England this afternoon, which chart Covid-19 deaths at hospital trusts.

The figures record the deaths of patients diagnosed with Covid-19 against the date they happened, rather than the date the deaths were announced.

The figures show Southend Hospital recorded no deaths yesterday.

However they reveal two patients with coronavirus died on Thursday, June 2, three on Tuesday, June 30, and one last Saturday, June 27.

NHS England recorded a further 39 deaths across the country at hospital trusts, with patients aged between 45 and 99 years old.

All patients had known underlying health conditions.

This brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28,871.
