Two staff members at the Brunel Shopping Centre have tested positive for coronavirus

Bosses at the centre confirmed the news after the Adver received an anonymous tip-off and said the pair lived in the same house and have been self-isolating.

All retailers in the centre are being informed, they added.

The statement from the Brunel said: "They will remain in isolation for at least 7 days, and until they are no longer displaying symptoms in accordance with government guidelines. We wish our team members a full and speedy recovery.

"Once we were informed of the positive test results we notified all other staff members and instructed them to monitor their own health vigilantly and self-isolate if they display any symptoms.

"We are in the process of informing each of our retail partners to make them aware and we continue to oversee our strict Covid-19 policies."

It added that the current safety measures in place follow government guidance but the virus is still a danger.

It said: "Our protection measures follow government guidance and include using handwashing facilities or sanitisers, use of PPE where appropriate, maintaining two metre distancing at all times, extensive and rigorous cleaning regimes in all areas of the building, and staggering staff work breaks.

"As a responsible employer, and operator of a facility open to the public, we have taken the Coronavirus pandemic extremely seriously and taken precautions to protect our staff, our retailers and the public.

"This is a reminder to everyone that the virus is still circulating and, whilst the number of cases is lower than it was, it’s imperative that everyone continues to observe social distancing and adhere to the other safety measures in place for their protection."
