SOUTHEND United chairman Ron Martin does not expect Stephen McLaughlin to still be with the Shrimpers next season.
The 30-year-old winger, who has been with Blues since 2015, has been offered a new deal to remain at Roots Hall.
But Martin believes McLaughlin will be moving on.
“We did speak to Stephen but as far as I’m concerned he is going elsewhere,” said Martin.
McLaughlin had been strongly linked with a move to Mansfield Town who are managed by former Blues coach Graham Coughlan but it is believed the Stags have so far been unable to agree terms with the Irishman.
McLaughlin, who started the League Two play-off final for Blues back in 2015, has made 186 appearances for the club.
