A COLCHESTER firm was on pole position as Formula 1 marked its 70th anniversary.

Ultimotive, which is based on Severalls Business Park, supplies F1 teams, including Williams F1, after striking a deal with them in 2005.

The brand specialises in car care and also supplies major brands, including MotoGP and Michelin.

Formula 1 celebrated its 70th anniversary at Silverstone, the British circuit where the championship started in 1950.

Family-run business Ultimotive was part of that landmark anniversary as it develops, markets and supplies car care products for the F1 teams and the wider global automotive industry.

Andy Smith, managing director at Ultimotive, said it enjoyed being part of the sport. He said: “F1 motorsport is extremely competitive and to be at the front of the grid each team has to be incredibly innovative.

“With over a decade of experience, Ultimotive understands this environment and thrives on the challenges it brings.”

“Through innovation, manufacturing excellence and our highly-skilled workforce, British F1 has transformed the global automotive industry and will continue to do so for decades to come.”
