A historic library and church tower have been added are at risk of being lost forever after being added to an 'at risk' register.
Plume Library building, including the tower of the former Church of Sr Peter, in Maldon have been added to the Heritage at Risk Register.
The Grade I listed building is one of 216 sites at risk.
The site, which contains more than 7,000 volumes, mostly from the 16th and 17th century, is at risk of its ceiling collapsing and possible structural movement and cracking.
It is now hoped the library will benefit from grant aid from Historic England after they applied for a grant.
The library was gifted to the town by Dr Thomas Plume, who was born in Maldon, on his death in 1704.
Places at risk include 1,475 buildings and structures, 2090 archaeological sites, 932 places of worship, 103 registered parks and gardens, 491 conservation areas, three battlefields and three protected wreck sites.
