A SUSSEX man who was stuck in Italy for two months due to coronavirus has been reunited with his family - with a little help from Good Morning Britain.
Will Castle was reunited with his family after being stranded in Florence for nearly 60 days after testing positive for the virus.
The 22-year-old from Haywards Heath had travelled to Italy with friends with plans to take part in a language summer camp.
However, the group's stay was extended for much longer than planned after testing positive for COVID-19 repeatedly.
Isolating alone in his hotel room, Will was finally able to fly back to his family after he received two consecutive negative results.
Good Morning Britain helped arrange his flight back at Gatwick Airport, and on October 12, Will was reunited with his family.
However, he was forced to leave his friends Rhys and Quinn behind after they returned another positive result.
Speaking to Good Morning Britain the following morning, Will said: “It feels strange, almost like a dream and that it never really happened.
“It was surreal. We’re not allowed to go into each other's rooms so I couldn’t even give them a hug goodbye.
“I waved to them on their balconies as I got in the taxi and that was the last I saw of them."
“It was really quite sad, which was such a shame because I was coming home to something that was so happy. But it was all tainted because they were having to stay behind.”
Will reappeared on Good Morning Britain this morning (October 19), with his friends Rhys and Quinn, after they tested negative and were free to return home.
