A PAIR have been arrested in connection with a string of alleged "dine and dash" incidents at pubs and restaurants across East Anglia.

Between July and October, eight establishments across Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk reported incidents of customers making off without making payment.

One of the incidents took place on August 23 at the Barn Brasserie in Great Tey, where a meal worth £146 was not paid for.

A 45-year-old man from Hadleigh and a 43-year-old woman from Sudbury were arrested in Ipswich on Wednesday on suspicion of making off without payment in connection with the incidents.

They have been released under investigation by Suffolk Police.

The other incidents took place at: 

  • Hintlesham Hall in Hintlesham on August 9
  • The George at Hintlesham on August 24.
  • The Waterfront Bistro on Key Street in Ipswich on September 2.
  • The Marquis of Cornwallis, Upper Street in Layham on September 10 meals ordered to the value of £197 without paying.
  • At the Swan Inn, The Street, Monks Eleigh in late October.
  • Two cases were reported in Norfolk at the Bird In Hand Pub in Wreningham on July 19 and Sugar Beat Public House in Bracon Ash on July 20.
