A person had to be rescued from the sea after getting into difficulty.
The coastguard were called out to the incident in the water opposite Marine Parade, Southend, at around 9.45am yesterday (Sunday, June 20) morning.
The RNLI had already been alerted to the incident and was able to “extract” the person from the water.
They were then brought back to shore and given medical assistance from RNLI crew before paramedics arrived at the scene and took over.
The coastguard was eventually stood down.

It was called out to a second incident at around 3pm yesterday where it was reported three people had got cut off from the incoming tide at Barge Pier.
The group had been seen walking along the mudflats and were eventually deemed not to require any assistance as they were in shallow water.
The coastguard was then stood down.
