A driver who got behind the wheel while over the drug drive limit has been handed a 12 month driving ban.
Michael Jones, 36, of Archer Close, Southend, was found to have cocaine and benzoylecgonine in his blood when he was stopped in Brewery Lane in Bridgend on June 26.
Jones admitted both offences when the case was heard at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on January 17.
The legal limit is 50 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood and 10 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood.
For the cocaine charge Jones was banned for 12 months and fined £475.
He was also ordered to pay a £48 victim service fund charge and £85 costs.
For the second charge he was given no separate penalty.
Magistrates said they had taken his guilty plea into consideration when handing down the sentence.
