A PARK has been fully closed off to the public as police have cordoned off the area.

Wat Tyler Country Park in Pitsea has been shut by Essex Police.

It is thought the closure is in connection with a murder probe in connection with missing Madison Wright.

It also follows Pitsea Recycling Centre, which is nearby to the country park, also being closed today.

Witnesses reported seeing a police presence in the area from yesterday, with tape blocking off multiple entrances to the park.

The park has issued a statement online, confirming the closure.

They said: "Wat Tyler Country Park has closed today, Sunday July 31, due to an "ongoing police incident".

"We are closed from the Main Gate please do not attend, no access to be granted.

"To note also, our staff are also unable to attend work today therefore our phones will not be answered and emails may have a delayed response, we are assisting as needed with the above and will update on reopening when we can."

Essex County Council said this was due to an ‘ongoing unrelated police incident’.

The police have been approached for comment, however, are yet to say anything on the incidents and whether they are linked.

More updates as we get them.
