POLICE have cordoned off both Wat Tyler Country Park and Pitsea Recycling Centre due to an “ongoing incident”.

Wat Tyler Park has reportedly been closed since yesterday evening, and a police cordon still remains in place.

Echo:

It is believed to be linked to the ongoing Pitsea murder probe following the disappearance of Madison Wright, 30, from Basildon.

Bosses at the popular country park released a statement on the closure.

They said: “Wat Tyler Country Park has closed today, Sunday July 31, due to an ongoing police incident.

“We are closed from the Main Gate please do not attend, no access to be granted.

Echo:

“To note, also, our staff are also unable to attend work today therefore our phones will not be answered, and emails may have a delayed response, we are assisting as needed with the above and will update on reopening when we can.”

The Pitsea Recycling Centre has also been closed due to an ongoing incident, and police confirm this is linked to the closure of the country park.

Echo:

A spokesman Essex County Council said: “Pitsea Recycling Centre is closed today, due to an ongoing unrelated police incident.

“Residents are encouraged to use Recycling Centres in Canvey or South Woodham Ferrers as alternatives.”

Echo:

Police are yet to why both are closed; however, it is speculated that it may be linked to Madison Wright, who remains missing.

But officers are yet to confirm whether that is true or not.
