A VICTIM of a serious assault has provided police with a statement.
Detectives from Brentwood police managed to speak to a 27-year-old Brentwood man on Sunday afternoon (March 9) for the first time since he was attacked on Friday March 7.
The man's left hand was almost sliced off in the "vicious" assault on the Eastham estate by a youth who was in possession of a large knife.
He was taken to Basildon University Hospital and later transferred to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, where he underwent extensive surgery throughout Saturday (March 8) to save his hand.
He had remained sedated but stable which is why detectives had to wait to speak to him.
However, he has now provided them with an initial statement.
