Brentwood Town lost another fixture to the baking weather at the weekend when their scheduled friendly with Witham was called off.

Town have been struggling with the lack of water at the Arena and last week's scheduled showcase game with Southend was also called off.

Tuesday's scheduled friendly with a Stevenage side is also subject to an early inspection and unless the heavens open is likely to be called off.

The problem is not confined to Brentwood. Lower league clubs across the country are suffering and it is possible that early rounds of the FA Cup may be put back to allow clubs the chance to get their pitches in a better condition.

Blues' reserves did get a game in on Saturday morning, beating Maldon Reserves 2-0.

Meanwhile, looking ahead, Town have been drawn at home to Burnham Ramblers in the East Anglian Cup and, following the withdrawal of Eton Manor, will now be in a preliminary group of just two with Tilbury in the Eastern Floodlight Cup.
