AVERAGE speed cameras could be introduced on the entire length of the A127 from the M25, it has been revealed.

Since 2009, average speed cameras have been in place between the Southend borough boundary and the Fortune of War roundabout, in Laindon.

The average speed cameras, which measure the time a car takes to cover a distance between two points, caught out more than 3,000 drivers in 2014.

The proposal to add more cameras to promote safety is “fully costed”, according to Essex County Council.

Orlando Bloom and a host of other  stars join Jamie Oliver on Southend Pier

ACTOR Orlando Bloom joined Jamie Oliver to film the latest episode of his TV show.

The Pirates of The Carribean star met Jamie in his Southend Pier cafe for the latest instalment of Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast.

The show features a different celebrity joining Jamie and Jimmy Doherty, with the latest guests being David Tennant and comedian Jack Whitehall, both of whom appeared with Jamie on the pier.

New £3m club set to open at Bas Vegas

A NEW £3million club will open in Basildon next month.

Work is underway to transform the former Sky bar, at the Festival Leisure Park, into a 1,700 capacity venue called Unit 7.

The club, which will have three separate rooms of music, will create 80 new jobs.

Blues boss Phil Brown to stay at Roots Hall

SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has rejected the chance to team up with Sam Allardyce at Sunderland.

The newly appointed Allardyce, who worked with Brown at Bolton Wanderers, wanted the Shrimpers boss to join his backroom team at the Stadium of Light.

But Brown has opted to stay at Roots Hall
